Dementia Adventure is a community interest organization helping people with dementia connect to nature and a sense of adventure.

Dementia Adventure thinks differently about dementia. Dementia Adventure believes people can live well with dementia, remaining connected to nature and enjoying a sense of adventure.

Taking a vacation

My husband and I have planned for years to take a long car trip as soon as I retire. That time is finally here as I am retiring at the end of this month. With my mother now in a nursing home I am concerned about leaving for an extended period. We will be gone about a month and I am worried that my mother won't remember who I am when I return. I have brothers and sisters who will step in during my absence but I am the primary caregiver.

Can Mum with Mid-Stage Alzheimers Join Us on a One-Week Trip?

Hi. My mother was diagnosed with an Alzheimer's type of dementia (doctors not sure) a few years ago, and for a couple of years she has been in a rest home. I live overseas and for several reasons am unable to have my mother with me, but I try to visit her regularly. Her siblings also live overseas, in a different country, and one of them will have their 70th birthday next year. I know he and Mum's other siblings would love to have Mum there for his birthday. Mum is the eldest, and this would be her last trip because of the deterioration of her memory.

Diagnosed with Dementia. Wanting to do things on my "Bucket List"!

I am hoping that this doesn't sound terrible, forgive me if it does.  There are a lot of things that I wanted to do in my lifetime.  I am only 51 and have recently been diagnoised with "Frontal Lobe Dementia", I realize that I don't have as much time as I was thinking that I would.  I am now on short term disability from work and am not sure if I will be able to return.    So my income level is going to drop significantly.
