Quick Tour of This Site's Features
This site attracts a highly specific community of readers. Therefore, we work extra hard to roll out unique features that provide special assistance and support.
Hardly a week goes by without an important improvement to the site. Many are purely technical, so you may not always notice them, but the site keeps getting better. In the process of improving the site, we try to minimize the changes you see. We understand the importance of creating minimal confusion by keeping things where you are used to finding them.
Here are some basic features available on the site
Daily Insight
The HOME PAGE now has something new every day. Look for the new "DAILY INSIGHT" video or article in the right column. Each day is different. Whether it is an excellent pick from the archives, or a new insight hot-off-the-press, the DAILY INSIGHT is always relevant.
Map of Clinical Trials
Under TO DO there is a new CLINICAL TRIALS option. It is based on the U.S. Governments listing of clinical trials around the world on the clinicaltrials.gov site. That site is huge and some say downright intimidating in complexity. Our menu will take you to a filtered version of their database that shows you a map of all clinical trials for dementias such as Alzheimer's around the world. You can easily click down into the map to get highly targeted information on trials and studies in your area.
Ann's Support Group
Ann is a licensed social worker who now moderates "ANN'S SUPPORT GROUP." In the group, people caregiving and living with dementias such as Alzheimer's share questions, experience and support of every kind. The exchanges are often powerful and are unique to people traveling this journey as a patient or caregiver. This online format allows people come and go at the times convenient to them.
The most recent comments (called "posts') are listed first. This format allows every reader to quickly and regularly look at the most recent comments, while going back in time as little or as much as they please.
Subscribe to the group by selecting SUBSCRIBE TO THIS GROUP under TOPIC TOOLS from the green bar at the top of Ann's Support Group. By subscribing, you will receive free notices by email with new posts to the group. This way, you know what's going on and when it's worth checking in from the easy comfort of your email inbox.
To watch the conversation, simply choose BOARDS -> ANN'S SUPPORT GROUP from the top of any page on the site.
Quick Reply
This handy new feature allows you to quickly and easily read a discussion and then throw in your two cents with just one click. You'll see it at the bottom of every discussion. It's a fantastic convenience when participating in Ann's Support Group, any discussion board or for Asking Nurse Dina.
Video - A Lot of Video - Accompanied by Reading Material
A week no longer goes by without the appearance of one or more new videos. News videos also include a transcript or related article. You can always go back to videos you have seen on our site by looking under NEWS. There you will find an organized variety of sections offering categorized menus to all the news articles and videos that appeared on our site. The videos that were educational but not "news" appear in the section called LEARN MORE, also available from the top of any page.
Learning Centers under "LIBRARY"
Hover your mouse pointer over "LIBRARY" at the top of any page and you will have options to access our Learning Centers. They include topics such as:
