Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats old-fashioned oats preferred
  • 1 cup water or low-fat milk for creamier texture
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries
  • 2 tbsp chopped walnuts lightly toasted if desired
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon optional for flavor

Method
 

  1. Combine rolled oats and water in a small pot and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until oats are soft and water is absorbed, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in ground cinnamon if using.
  4. Top oatmeal with mixed berries and chopped walnuts before serving.
