Country singer Jay Allen, a contestant on NBC’s The Voice, says music helped “wake up” his mom, who had early onset Alzheimer’s. Watch now.
Country performer Jay Allen, a contestant on the popular NBC TV program “The Voice,” was devastated when he learned his mom had early-onset Alzheimer’s. But he didn’t realize just how much she was affected until she and his dad came to see him for a visit in Nashville, where he worked as a singer and songwriter.
Heartbroken, Allen suggested the three go out for an evening to hear some music. He tearfully relates how that was when he learned just how powerful music really can be — especially for someone with Alzheimer’s.
